Michael,

Thanks for your help. My rebuilt pack is doing fine - 169 frames from first charge. You mentioned before that you might take deposits for future battery rebuilds. Do you still intend doing this? If so, any idea as to the batch size you'd need to make this viable?

Best wishes,

Updates:

1) Anyone who might be still interested in a DMR Battery Pack Re-Build should send me an e-mail with address, phone number, and quantity needed. If there is enough interest, I will get a price and timetable, and then take deposits prior to ordering the cells.

2) I still have a small number of the DigiPower DPS-9000 "Under Camera" battery packs available.

3) Quantum Turbo Cables are in the final test stages (original Turbo wasn't working).

4) Tekkeon MP3450i (external pack) and cables are working great.

5) SLA, Li-Polymer Hi Capacity, and AA External Packs are all working fine...just waiting for shot count results, before posting the different options.

Questions, comments, suggestions, let me know.

Updates (2-15-11):

1) DMR Battery Pack Re-Builds: There are about 25 Re-Builds on the wait list at the moment; at least another 25 would be needed to consider a new batch order from the battery manufacturer. Anyone who might be still interested in a DMR Battery Pack Re-Build should send me an e-mail with address, phone number, and quantity needed.

2) I still have a small number of the DigiPower DPS-9000 "Under Camera" battery packs available. These are working very nicely, and deliver a bit more shots than the internal DMR Battery Pack. These "yellow label" packs use the 2.5 mm plug, but power connecting cords, and 3 different chargers are available for these units.

3) Quantum Turbo Cables are working well; everyone who has one has been happy. The lightweight rubber coiled cable seems to be just fine with or without adding the disconnect. Reports are of 2000+ shots from a fully charged Quantum Turbo3

4) Tekkeon MP3450 Battery Pack and cables are working great, and are available in the short or long coiled, as well as straight power cords, again with or without the disconnect. The MP3450i ("i" industrial version) is available from the manufacturer, as well as places like B&H. Reports are of 2000+ shots from a fully charged MP3450, and the MP3450i is supposed to have 10% more capacity and is easier to use in selecting the proper voltage.

5) SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) and Li-Polymer Hi Capacity Battery Packs both have tested out at over 2000+ shots per full charge are all working fine. These setups are available as cable only, or cable with battery pack. The SLA and Li-Polymer Packs are readily available just about everywhere. Both the SLA and Li-Polymer each need a different charger (different chemistry).

6) AA Emergency Packs: The AA Emergency Pack (2x, 3x, and 4x) uses multiples of 6 AA cells (12, 18, or 24) to get shot counts of 225, 330, and 460, respectively. The Duracell Alkaline cells were used in this testing, rechargeable AA cells were not tested, but should work also. Again, the power cables can be made with or without the disconnect, so you can use just about any of the External Battery Packs with a given power cord.

All the shot count and cable testing in this round was done by forum member Gene D, in RAW mode (DNG file type). File sizes ran from 9.2 MB to 9.98 MB with all battery types. Write to card time did not vary from standard battery times, except for AA batteries at the end of their life, at which time the storage times would double and success of writing was unreliable, which is expected.

The writeups on my site are not finished yet for the SLA, Li-Polymer, and AA external packs, but should be completed with images pretty soon.

Questions, comments, suggestions, let me know.

Updates (6-17-11)

The second round of DMR Battery Pack Re-Builds is now finished, and the new supplier for the cells will ship in smaller quantities, although at a slightly higher cost. Future re-builds can be done pretty much as requested, although it takes about 1 week to get the cells delivered once ordered.

All the other items (2-6) from the previous post are working well, with many happy photogs!
