New camera case strap?

Recommended Posts

when i'm stuck for oddball strap (and wrist strap) answers, i normally check with a local shoe repair shop. they have leather strips and straps in various colors and widths. they've also modified a leather belt of the right color and dimension and riveted the ends together around a D or O rings.

you might also check suppliers who are frequently mentioned in the forum. search for leicatime in rome ('luigi'), and gordy.

good luck

thanks guys for the website and those good tips, I'm sure that will sort it! J, I notice you live in Hamburg? Last time I visited Germany I needed some leatherwork done on an antique case and the local shoe-maker did an excellent job on that. Unfortunately local cobblers in London are nearly all just that these days, quick heel, Sticka-Sole and shoelace merchants with very few craft skills left... shame!

we try to do what we can to support craftsmen alive wherever possible, such a shoemakers who can stitch, glue, stretch, polish and do jobs with raw instead of pre-glued materials.

my impression, there are lots of skilled craftsmen in the u.k., but maybe not on the highstreet. ;)

glad you're sorted

I absolutely agree with you Rick, in the UK one can find some of the finest specialist craftsmen in the world (it's something I've been meaning to document for some years) but, as you say, not in the high street ( the old apprenticeship system has been in chaos here for the last 20 years - unlike in Germany)...

cheers

This is a company I can recommend. Very fast shipping and good quality items. i just bought an umbrella from them. ;)

many thanks Jaapv, I jut checked their website again and they now also offer a leather goods repair service, which may be useful for old ERCases etc. Greyelm also recommended these people.
