So how did you folks do in the Puget Sound area with our hurricane/cyclone on the Friday morning of the 15th of Dec? We were hit very badly, Stanley Park is a mess.... Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann

Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann Huh, cylone? Are you talking about that windstorm? All we had were wind and wind and wind ... no rain ... and we had to shiver in the dark without power for 3.5 days. Miserable but glad the gas lines were still running. That was the longest power outage I have ever had in the US.
arthury Posted January 7, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 7, 2007 Thanks, Paul and John, for your kind words. Yes, #1 seems to remind me of a nicely exposed shot on the good old Velvia RVP-50 in early morning light. I liked it, too.

leicamann Posted January 8, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 8, 2007 Yes Arthur..when winds reach 125 to 140 mph here on the coast, in most weather departments they call that a hurricane on the east coast or here on the west coast a cyclone. The media failed and has done so repeatedly , failed to call it what it was.. a cyclone. In 1962 we had Cyclone Freda, it did much less damage than this "windstorm". Stanley Park lost over 3,000 trees and another 100 on Saturday again and again the media"failed" to call it what it was, cyclone or hurricane force winds, I finally emailed my complaint. How much death and destruction has to happen before the media actually calls it what it is? Some places were without power for 2 weeks and were asked simply to leave. Glad you folks were spared the catastrophe. It will take the folks in Stanley Park years to clean up the mess and at least 40 to 60 years for the trees to grow back in, I hope we don't ever have another "windstorm" as the media like to mulify it with. arthury Posted January 8, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted January 8, 2007 Yes, I agree with you that the media supressed the true dimension of this storm quite a bit ... Here's one (shot a couple of weeks ago) in our neighborhood which hasn't been repaired yet and the worst of it is it's also a STOP sign attached to it. Yesterday, when I passed it, there were remnants of a traffic accident... *sigh* ... wilfredo Posted January 10, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 10, 2007 Arthur, Who says you can't get great color from the M8? That first shot has stunning colors, reminds me of Vevia 50 ISO. Nice work. Nice work. Cheers, Wilfredo+ Benitez-Rivera Photography Thanks, Wilfredo. I couldn't agree more. I think the default settings from the DNG is set to capture the maximum details; especially, the highlights. Some custom adjustments may be needed in PS to "develop" it to our own personal taste.
