A lot of Noctilux voters here, I can't help wondering how many have ever tried using the lens on a digital body.

Well at least I have. Use the 1.0 2nd version all the time with my m9 it is a dream, or should I say a dreamy lens. I have the 50lux asph also but if I hd to choose one of them to keep, that would be the nocti.

My favorite is the 50 'Lux ASPH, but it spends most of the time in the dry cabinet because I find it too good to use. Now the 50 f/2 is the lens that always on my M9, but it is not my favorite.

Now that's just plain silly...... Use the lens - don't worship it - otherwise only your children will get to enjoy it - and they'll probably trash it anyway. ;)

Whichever lens happens to be on my camera at the time!

For with a lens you can dream of the images that you will make today, but without a lens you can only dream of what may have been. :)

Exactly, as this is how I feel about all of my Leica lenses. :)

It is strange that many said the best lens is the one always mounted on your M9. My favorite is the 50 'Lux ASPH, but it spends most of the time in the dry cabinet because I find it too good to use. Now the 50 f/2 is the lens that always on my M9, but it is not my favorite.

Sounds like mistress and wife. May the two never meet!

Dentists would not think about buying anything else? Probably both in their boxes.

But the answer is always in the question a Canon Dream f/0.95...

Another vote for the 35 Lux. I originally moved to M photography because of the qualities of this lens. Now, all these years later, the full-frame M9 has come along and the same reasoning applies once more.

I want a perfect 35 Lux as a dream lens for the M9. Fortunately, the one I have is extremely close. If I could only have one lens, that would be it :)

I've used my Noctilux extensively on the M8, but it's really out on the M9 (needs to go back to Solms to undo the "M8 adjustment" they made). After the main wedding season is over (or when I can get another M9) the camera and lens will go in and get re-acquainted :)

My second favourite dream lens for an M9 would be a magically updated 75 Lux, with a short focus throw but with the same contrast characteristics of the last version :)

After almost 40 years gathering a hefty collection of very usable examples, almost all have their appeal.

50 Summitar for foggy evenings

28 2.0 ASPH for many conditions

Short 90 - faces in a crowd

pre war 3.5 35 elmar is a great look

35 2.5 Voight. & newish collapsible 50 Elmar for stealth

My artwork is all Viso - that counts for a lot! 65 & 90

Lately for everyday; 2.0 50 'cron & 35 2.0 ASPH 35...

BUT - you guys are making me verrrry tempted by the 50 1.4 ASPH lux. Results I've seen online are very compelling - and with the 9 I've been street shooting almost every day after 'work work'.

Question: Anyone other old film M'rs feeling this?: I went straight from a 6 to the 9 (no 8) - the rapid fire takes getting used to. Am accustomed to 1 careful shot at a time. Its fun to fire away!

I'm guessing that you mean 'away' and not 'off'. :o But either way, that's a beautiful image. :)
