Thanks for the input, all. Peter, I've forgotten the names on the ships, but will post the names, length, beam, etc. when I find out, next time in the area. They are huge, for sure, and each has a giant folding ramp at the stern for quickly deploying hundreds (or thousands) of vehicles.

Peter, I was out there again today, and got the name of one of the ships. Here's some more info on the ships:

 

<<MV Cape Hudson is one of Military Sealift Command's 27 Roll-on/Roll-off Ships.

• Beam: 105 feet

• Draft: 35 feet

• Displacement: 51,007 long tons

• Speed: 17.4 knots
