wattsy Posted August 23, 2010 Share #21 Posted August 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A lens subforum is a pretty obvious section for a Leica forum but I doubt that Andreas will change it now. It might upset his precious Google rankings.
Advertisement Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi wattsy, Take a look here Lens Subforum?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted August 24, 2010 Share #22 Posted August 24, 2010 Ah, there is nothing like a bit of small-souled pissing in your hosts pot plants to give them that appreciated feeling, is there?
andybarton Posted August 24, 2010 Share #23 Posted August 24, 2010 Some time ago I started a thread in the german forum demanding a special subforum for lenses. In the meantime I am cured. A "lens forum" would not prevent users posting their questions or experiences in any other digital or analogue or customer's fora. It would just add one (i.e. two for the german and international users) opportunities to look for a certain information about a certain lens. What happens is that a moderator (99% of the time, me) moves things to the appropriate forum sub-section.
UliWer Posted August 24, 2010 Share #24 Posted August 24, 2010 What happens is that a moderator (99% of the time, me) moves things to the appropriate forum sub-section. I appreciate your painstaking for the forum! Though I fear, a new lens section would be the cause for even more decisions for moving threads to and fro: Where does a thread "Old glass on the M8" or "Is it dangerous for the M9 to collapse a 50-Elmar?" belong to: lens forum, a camera sub-forum, one might think of the historica forum as well? I am glad not having to make those decisions every day. The ratio for a lens subforum is evident, but a forum doesn't act rationally.

euston Posted August 24, 2010 Share #26 Posted August 24, 2010 Though I fear, a new lens section would be the cause for even more decisions for moving threads to and fro: I don’t see how the existence of a lens forum would materially change the quantity of decisions that have to be made. Where does a thread "Old glass on the M8" or "Is it dangerous for the M9 to collapse a 50-Elmar?" belong to: lens forum, a camera sub-forum, one might think of the historica forum as well? I am glad not having to make those decisions every day. It would go where it goes at present except that, on those occasions when the customer forum would have been the appropriate place, it would go in the lens forum instead. Simples! The ratio for a lens subforum is evident, but a forum doesn't act rationally. But it can try to. There’s nothing irrational about restoring the customer forum to what it professes to be. And what could be more rational than that a site dedicated to one of the finest lens manufacturers in existence should offer a forum for the discussion of lenses?
