Advertisement Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi Xmas, Take a look here Manchester Pride 28th Aug. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted August 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2010 Noel, I'm a potential starter for this; getting to Mancs by 10 on a Bank Holiday weekend (owing to engineering works - whoops I mean "Service Improvements") could be interesting but Pride marches are usually a good giggle thanks to all the extroverts seizing the opportunity to get out there and show it all off. Pete.
Xmas Posted August 8, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi Pete Don't worry if you phone my or Michael's mobiile we will come back and collect you, - if you were late. There should be London trains arriving at 09:00? The Gay Qtr is beside the station, the parade is never far away, I'll PM when I find Michael's #.. stunsworth Posted August 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2010 If you want to use Google maps or a GPS look up Canal Street and you'll be bang in the middle of the gay village. When I worked in Manchester in the 80s the street sign was often tampered with so that it read "anal treet".

Xmas Posted August 8, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi Steve Might you able to attend? Should be good pic opportunities. Noel
stunsworth Posted August 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Noel, I don't know yet. The problem I have is that I don't shoot well when I'm part of a group. Usually that doesn't bother me because it's as much about meeting people as the photography. However I've been thinking of photographing the pride event for years. If I do go then I may meet you for a coffee, wander off by myself, and then meet up again later.
Xmas Posted August 9, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted August 9, 2010 Hi Steve Understand completely, Michael and me have the same problem, but we were hoping you would show us somewhere else to eat... So if you want send us a SMS, location and time, and we will meet you for lunch. Noel
elansprint72 Posted August 9, 2010 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2010 The week-end of the 28th August is one where all true Mancunians (born within the sound of Metro-Vick's hooter) absent themselves, due to the influx of "strange" out_of_towners. Whilst not able to claim this dubious birth-place for myself; I'll do as the Mancs do and be elsewhere. Please do enjoy yourselves but clean up afterwards. Michael Markey Posted August 11, 2010 Share #12 Posted August 11, 2010 Nell lane maternity homeOne of the first batch of NHS babies:rolleyes: I know Nell lane well `cause my grandmother lived there. If truth be told I was actually born in Prestbury so I`m def ruled out. I did live in Didsbury until I was 15 so it must count for something. Anyway looking forward to seeing you on the 28th. elansprint72 Posted August 11, 2010 Share #13 Posted August 11, 2010 I spent my formative years in Didsbury, moved to East Dids when first married and our school playing field was on Nell Lane, next to the hospital.
Xmas Posted August 11, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted August 11, 2010 Hi I did not mean to engender a nostalgia outbreak, this was meant to be a whipping in for the 28th. Anyway with enough ballast in my heel tank I can sing McCann's song as well as any local. I met my love by the gas works croft I dreamed a dream by the old canal I kissed my girl by the factory wall Chorus.... Noel

Xmas Posted August 11, 2010 Author Share #19 Posted August 11, 2010 Hi Steve A Salford lad born and breed he started in life as Ian Miller changed his name to Ewan McColl, he was heavily involved in acting as well as folk songs.. One of my regrets is I never went to see his wife's theatre/plays, in London when I lived a stone throw away. Noel
