archi4 Posted August 4, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 4, 2010 I only have a gut feeling about it, but I always resample first and then manipulate. My personal feeling is that if I manipulate first any artifacts or other things affecting the file will only be magnified in resampling. Would like to hear from others on this. jaapv Posted August 4, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 4, 2010 Huh?+1 If you mean resize, that is something best left to the very last. Desaturate is not a very good way of creating B&W conversions btw.
johnwolf Posted August 4, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2010 Conventional wisdom says resize last, which makes sense. You'd want to save your adjusted file as a master at the native size, and then resize and sharpen as appropriate for each instance of output. rob_x2004 Posted August 5, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted August 5, 2010 Within reason, I think you might find the most accuarate way to edit generally is in the size and format you intend to use. Obviously if you are upsizing for printing there are specific separate programmes. I am asking specifically in regard to desaturation and resampling, whether there is a data availability/loss that favours one or the other.
