albert Posted July 30, 2010 Share #8 Posted July 30, 2010 Louis, This seperates the women from the girls. I have thrown away my D-LUX 4 and am shying-away from the garden. Your photograph is at the pinnacle of what I had thought possible in this Macro-World.

biglouis Posted July 30, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted July 30, 2010 Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate it. I can fully recommend the GF-1 and the Panasonic Leica DG Macro. The main benefit is the AF and the ability to adjust the EV in live view which is how I managed to nail the exposure. Compared to my M8 kit I can't escape the feeling that I am cheating. The Leica branded (licensed?) macro lens has a very Leica look and a price to match! LouisB

biglouis Posted July 31, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted July 31, 2010 I'd like to thank everyone again for their commments. Photography should be 90% planning and 10% execution but there are exceptions. In this case, I was fortunate the have the camera and lens pre-focussed on this particular flower. The hoverfly was very accomodating, they normally fly off at the least movement but this one was staying put. Can I also add that I am 100% sold on Lightroom 3. I resisted upgrading from 1.4(!) for a long time but LR3 has noise and sharpening tools which are very good indeed.
