Andy: "If you know of an on-line printer that ..."

No, this is my first experience with on-line printing, and I suppose if the first one didn't have the horizontal lines running through it I would have thought it was OK?

I suspect I was expecting too much.

I'd be interested in any other suggestions for on-line printers for an M8 project I'm putting together - my only requirement is quality, the rest I can work around.

Bill: "I think you should have Blurb replace your second copy."

I might get round to it eventually, but Blurb's answer to the first print problem

(to print it very soft so the fine lines were filled in) doesn't fill me with optimism.

They'll probably just sharpen the blurred one and I'll end up with 3 useless books!

Back on topic - If you decide to go with Blurb I'll still submit something, but if any are chosen I probably won't, will, will not, buy a copy. will, not ...

I guess I follow you....

I plan to use Blurb. It worked well last time, and also worked well for the LUG book in which I participated. I found the colors in my pix correct and correctly balanced.

I hope to put a PDF version of the book online, again, so the collaborators can proof it.

I hope you'll be pleased enuf with your picture(s) that you'll want the book. If you put prints that you have made inside the front cover, it'll make a great conversation piece.

I second the One Lens idea. I think that kind of requirement could help bringing some unity to the book.

Voting for 50 mm, being the widest one in the whole Leica lens range (a series of Summilux both pre- and aspherical, Noctilux, Elmar, Summicron, etc.).

We could than call the book "Many Eyes, One Lens," that lens being any Leica-branded 50mm.

How's that sound?

Are there any non-Leica 50mm lenses that qualify as a "Leica" lens? Maybe there's some lens made for them that one of our members has. This would be a neat trick.

What about ''50/Fifty'' Although that makes for a short book(!) or chapters by aperture?

Bill

Nice touch.

BTW, Bill, I'll be in London tomorrow (you have PM).

I like the idea, and I'm willing to participate. But in a very quick read of the thread I'm not sure what the requirements are... Other than _something_ Leica must be used...

Bruce, the first thread has the rules: (1) Leica body and lens, and (2) you must post your pic in the picture thread.

There is not judging to enter; post up to 3 pix.

We are currently refining the requirements. If a 50mm lens must be used, I'll have the first post modified. If that's the case, I for one will be restricted. I generally use a 35 'lux.
