Graham, ILOVE YOUR PICTURE!!!! I wanted to be the one to shoot it...

It make me feel like spending a month in a big airport.

Enrico, thank you for the kind comments - the light / shadow was too good to miss. I was just the observer armed with my ready M8/28 Cron. ;)

As an almost daily traveller I can definitely tell you that I would NOT want to spend a month in a big airport, however much you paid me. :p

And you have the advantage of the digital camera (M8). Can you imagine how much stress it is to get a handcheck on an MP with a film bag (10-15 rolls) at a crowded airport. It makes me think to change completely to digital sometimes.

Sorry, no sympathy here. Try an Arca Swiss 4x5, eight lenses mounted in boards, and three hundred sheets of film. My wife and I have been known to shut down entire airports with this.:D Security just has no idea what to make of all this stuff. Try explaining it is sheet film, and if you open the box you expose everything. We actually had one very well trained security agent ask why we just don't roll our film up in canisters like evryone else

I know what you mean - I spent some time with LF and in the end I found that I had to carry a spare sacrificial 4x5 ready load that I could pull out the exposed film to show the security folks that those funny looking film things were real. Ditto for 120/220 - although a lot less of an issue.

For self load/film holders, forget it - even when requesting a hand check. You have my sympathies. :(

Did that for car-shootings some years ago. But the airport stuff changed, they don´t know 13x18cm film sheets though a camera check is easier for them (hey look, this is a Plaubel, see the bellow, see the lenses, no bomb). The other problem is, you never know if you get your tripod at the final airport or not. You cannot take it in your hand-lugguage:D

Some weeks ago i had trouble at the airport of Genova in Italy. They didn´t accept a handcheck of my Leica MP and films. The XRAY-stuff was simply too young to know the rules and gear. Although we had an own charter plane (small one with open cabin door!) they insist on x-raying my camera and films (they knew we were pros!). That was the first time I experienced that in central Europe!

Good times gone with the wind of fear.

Thats cool colours Azzo. What did you do to get that?

Not often I can break into little shadow thread with my connection. Thank god no one is linking to half meg images like elsewhere.

Rob,

All I did was to tone down the very bright area. As you can tell, there was a huge difference in f-stops between the shaded parts in the foreground and 2nd section against the left section of the image.

Thank you :)
