A fine series of pictures,  Andy, from a simple yet highly capable compact camera. The nearest more modern contender in the Leica line-up would be the CL plus 23 mm Summicron which I also have and use. It is faster, has the same field of view and has an excellent evf; but is not as compact or as instinctively simple to operate as the diminutive X1.

Regarding your experience of toggle behaviour,  that has not happened to me, I suspect, because I use the Leica handgrip and wrist strap. Thumb pressure is significantly reduced. However that is just my experience and yours has not detracted from truly excellent results. I like your flying sparks in your industrial example.

The last couple of pictures, esp. those from Andy, brought me to digging in my archives once more. This shot caught my attention for the nice color palette. I remember shooting this picture of some lights from a fair in 2013 from a boat. It is rather abstract, but maybe someone else likes it as much as I do:

Really like the angle of this capture and the light intensity and colour on both subjects ... even with the exposure time needed for this, your shadows aren't too harsh or distracting, the rest of the image explodes begging attention. Fine work !

Thank you for the feedback on my pictures. To clear things up regarding the first picture: This was a 15 sec exposure at ISO 100 (don't know if this was done intentionally or incidentally - forgive me, this was 7 years back :) ) The post processing was done in Lightroom using a preset I found within the dozens of different presets I collected over the years. I start my post processing with the play within the sliders for exposure and contrast, followed by lights/shadows whites/blacks and then the necessary adjustment in white balance. Form there on I sometimes use one of the different presets that suit my style or leave it as is. Sharpening is the last step before export. Hope that helps!

Hi everybody,

I'm an absolute newbie here and would like to show an example as well (NO postprocessing). If you like, visit my HP on www.lebensehenfotografieren.de - it's in German, but well, it's all about photographs, don't you think so?
