Happy to take the flukes as they come... :)

Seriously, I knew what I wanted and I knew that what I really needed was a 90mm, so this one is cropped from the 35mm equivalent on the X1. I was lucky that the shutter fired when I wanted it to, as that is often not the case.

I have had problems with the manual focus; even with the centre portion being enlarged, it's useless in bright sunshine as you can't see the screen properly. However, I would be pretty sure that I zone-focused this one, on the bracket on the rail, with depth of field taking care of the rest.

Clearly a fixed-lens camera has intrinsic limitations when it comes to lens choice and general operation. I rarely do action with mine, but occasionally try to meet the challenge when I hear an ambulance siren heralding a faster than normal chase through town streets.

By definition I am unprepared for that situation and feven orget to set my camera to 'C' Continuous shooting! Next time I intend to try Tv using a slowish shutter speed, manual focus preset and pan to blur the background. But mostly I use mine for high quality potential stock pictures where I can adopt a more measured approach.

Regarding anticipated manual focusing, I set my X1 to a predicted distance and lock it. Then, regardless of ambient brightness, I simply select Manual focus and accept the setting stored in camera. Not foolproof, but a useful datum on which to build. While I yearn for the advantages of a system camera, the X1 acquits itself worthily when we are out alone. :)

Hello! I'm a newbie here, but this is what I got so far… I'll let you sort out the banal from the rest of the crop.

I'll have to admit: the more I use the X1, the more I enjoy photography!
