I'm finding the X1 is handy enough as a portrait camera. This one was cropped a fair bit but the files seem to take it well.

Taken this morning in Spring light. This is a picture I could not have made with the M9. F16 at ISO 400.

^^^ Very nice photos. I have been contemplating buying the X100 but when I look at these B&W's from the X1, all I can is, "Step into Liquid!" Watery, smooth, and they feel three dimensional. The depth is palpable. Did you use the B&W settings in the X1 or did you do the B&W post-process from RAW?

Took this sometime ago, but didn't think to post till I was upgrading LR to it's latest 3.4 version last night.

X1, 1/60th, F5.0, ISO 1600, only some cropping, highlight recovery and b&w conversion in LR.

First time poster here...

I've just gone through every page of this thread - a lot of incredible images taken with the X1. My new X1 is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I can't wait! I've shot with the 5D Mark II, and currently have a Pentax K5 plus some primes, but the colors, dynamic range, and smoothness/texture/richness displayed in some of these shots is incredible compare to either of those cameras! I'm just amazed.
