ArtZ Posted July 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I was shooting tonight at ISO 1250 (and even a few shots at ISO 2500) and I find noise improvement in version 2.005 (compared to previous firmware versions). For the first time I find pictures taken at 1250 usable. I find also noise @ 2500 is less harsh, more similar to film. I agree with you RAW converters have been improved in the last year. But as I still have CS4 in one computer, I gave a try last night to develop the images taken at ISO 1250 and I still sees a clear difference. Noise (there's still noise!) is somehow better, more natural, less harsh, more uniform, more similar to film. But what I have just realised is both cameras have been replaced last year, after I took my last 1250 ISO images. I would love, there has been something though ;-) Dirk, I fully agree with you concerning LR3 (and Photoshop CS5) noise reduction improvement. I think I would have hesitated to say I find files at ISO 1250 (and higher) if I had not Photoshop CS4 installed in one computer I haven't upgraded yet. I have to do some more testing but I do have the impression I get cleaner images. As I said, one of my M8 was replaced by a new one and the sensor + the motherboard were replaced in the other one after the lastest HI-ISO I took last year. But I don't believe this could be the reason. While I'm writing this post something comes to my mind. Didn't Leica said few months ago that they were going to correct banding in a next firmware version? Maybe they have done that in this FW version and it has an impact in noise. I don't know. .
