wilfredo Posted July 26, 2010 Author Share #21 Posted July 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've stayed away from shooting RAW+JPEGS because I personally have little use for JPEGS and don't like using up space on my flash cards. I haven't used Lightroom since I moved into the world of the IMAC. For some reason it doesn't seem to install properly, and since I primarily use PSCS4 I haven't bothered with it, but now it seems I could get some use from it. Is there an issue I should be aware of when installing the software I got with my M8 on my OSX Leapord version IMAC? I need to correct myself. It's not Light Room, it's Leica Digital Capture 1.0 that won't work properly on my IMAC. Every time I try to use it I get a message that says "The Application Leica Difital Capture quit unexpectantly."
Advertisement Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Hi wilfredo, Take a look here Converting RAW to JPEG. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wilfredo Posted July 26, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted July 26, 2010 Wilfre, I also use Bridge + Photoshop (CS5 since last week, CS4 before and CS3 before...) to convert RAW to JPG in a batch. As other people said, launch Bridge, select all the pictures you want to convert and choose "Open with..." and then select "Photoshop CSx (dafault)" Once you are in Camera RAW, you'll see on your left all selected pictures. Click on the button "Select All" (if needed, modify ACR parameters: white balance, sharpness, noise reduction, color space...) and then hit "Save Images..." Just choose now file folder, select the file extension and JPG quality settings... You're done! PS: ACR 6.1 in CS5 is fantastic for noise reduction... This sounds like something I can do. Can you please tell me what the little baby steps are in-between each big step? For example, when I open my files in Bridge, I can see them but can only open one at a time. How do I check-off the ones I want to convert to JPEGS as a batch?

Wilfredo, To select all the files in Bridge the command is "cmd+A" (in Windows Ctrl+A) and then right click and select "Open in Camera Raw". BTW, in my previous post I wrote "...and choose "Open with..." and then select "Photoshop CSx (dafault)"" You can also chose the option "Open in Camera Raw". Both options will launch Camera Raw, but the first one will open also Photoshop CSx, which is useful (and faster) when you want to apply NIK filters or do other work with Photoshop after the conversion. Hope that helps Venga, un abrazo.

wilfredo Posted July 26, 2010 Author Share #25 Posted July 26, 2010 Any reasons why my Capture 1.0 software doesn't work on my IMAC?
zlatkob Posted July 27, 2010 Share #26 Posted July 27, 2010 Yes, but this still only allows me to to them one at a time. That's what I've been doing all along. I'd like to do batch conversions from RAW to JPEGS. How do you select all the pictures? 1. Load multiple raw files in Adobe Camera Raw by: - dragging them from the Finder, or - dragging them from Bridge (or right clicking and select "Open in Camera Raw"), or - dragging them from another program, like Photo Mechanic (my preference). Whichever method you choose, you can select individual photos or an entire folder. In Photo Mechanic, I have "command + e" set to open any selected raw files in ACR. 2. When ACR opens with multiple thumbnails arranged vertically on the left side - click the "Select All" button on the top left of ACR - and then click "Save Image..." on bottom left of ACR. 3. In the Save Options dialog, select your destination for the Jpegs and the file quality and click Save. 4. Wait for the processing to finish, open the destination folder and enjoy your beautiful finished Jpegs!
