Advertisement Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Hi ldhrads, Take a look here Babe in the Woods. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2010 I can imagine you snapped it, but really in this kind of shot the head must be free of obstruction. Difficult to do, I admit, but nobody ever said wildlife photography is easy
ldhrads Posted July 20, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted July 20, 2010 I'll post some others, unfortunately the really clear head shots were oof due to motion and slow shutter speed. Still balancing the fact that I can change iso quickly on the M9 compared to the M8.2, it was only my 3rd day with the camera! aesop Posted July 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2010 ...is this a really tight crop? I ask because you used a 35mm lens.
jaapv Posted July 20, 2010 Share #5 Posted July 20, 2010 That shot is a WHOLE lot better
ldhrads Posted July 20, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted July 20, 2010 Thanks for the compliment, as for the crop it's about 50%, these deer were remarkably close, less than 3 meters away.
allamande Posted July 20, 2010 Share #7 Posted July 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The second is especially nice. Ece

robert_parker Posted July 20, 2010 Share #9 Posted July 20, 2010 I like the second shot very much as it's natural and clearly taken at a challengingly close range. I also like the natural colour and oof effects.
daveleo Posted July 20, 2010 Share #10 Posted July 20, 2010 very glad that Jaap made those comments and (i think?) induced you to post #2 which IMO is very nice (cannot believe you could get that close ! !)
stuny Posted July 20, 2010 Share #11 Posted July 20, 2010 The second is much better and quite charming. I feel the slight green cast should be toned down.
becker Posted July 20, 2010 Share #12 Posted July 20, 2010 I like both, the first brings the shyness and the will to hide of a wild animal. Difficult shots well done. You camouflaged Yourselfe ? Kr Matthias
ldhrads Posted July 21, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted July 21, 2010 Remarkably I stood quietly trailside, no camo, just quiet, especially with the M.
pauledell Posted July 23, 2010 Share #14 Posted July 23, 2010 The second is excellent. A great shot. Paul
