First of all I would like to apologize for the late response. I have just moved to a new home and my internet connection has failed to move. Thus I have only limited access for the next two weeks.

Thanks for all the great responses, very useful!

Ede is indeed quite close and once the move is over I will see if I can visit Collect Camera. Thanks Maarten! And thanks Maurice and Charles for sharing your experiences with them.

I did come across MKOptics some time ago, looks like a nice shop.

Tobey, I enjoy the 7D very much and you are right that it allows full control. It is great, specially with the 17-55 f/2.8 EF-S lens that I use. For its purpose I think it is the best camera for me and I would prefer to keep it if I buy a Leica M. The Leica simply offers a different shooting experience that is more aimed at manual control than a DSLR. It is also smaller, more discreet and less plastic. Ideally I would use a Leica M with primes and the 7D with zoom lenses. I think that would make a great pair suitable for any situation.

Hello all, very informative forum and specific topic, and thank you to all for that!

I have a 5D with a 35 mm f 1.4 L, 17-40 L, 70-200 L, and a few other relatively cheaper lenses, and am looking at getting a 'one lens' kit that i can use often (and not have to carry out the monster 5D with grip + an L lens). My main usage will be for street photography, close / full body portraits, and of course my kids.

I looked at the OMD-em5 and was very impressed with the quality of the output, however from how it felt in my hands i was quite let down (not plasticky, but just not a good fit - blame mother nature (or my dad) for my big hands!?)

I did the usual research about the other parallel's (nex, x pro1, x e 1 etc etc), but decided to stop fooling myself and look for a Leica (childhood dream!).

With the introduction of the leica M and the M-E i HOPE that the price of the M9 will drop, but dont see that yet of course (since its only a few days).

Anyways, all of the above was more for the other topics in this forum, but for this specific thread - the last information regarding where to buy a Leica m8 / 8.2 is 2 years old - fanstastic information but still outdated.

Can I request the pro's / leica lovers on this thread / forum to guide me as to where I can buy a M8 / 8.2 (or even a M9 - used) today in the netherlands ? I live in amsterdam, pretty close to the kamera express, but as we know, NL is not that big!

Again the criteria is the same, i'd rather buy it from a store with some sort of guarantee than off marktplaats / etc.

Thank you very much!

I would like to ask if any of them knows a decent (trusted) way to buy Leica in the Netherlands.

Howdy Dutch. In reply to your original post, let me mention an eBay dealer called Wish-for-Leica, based in the Netherlands. I've purchased a few items from this dealer and had good transactions, including satisfactory follow up of a warranty claim, which is impressive given that I'm about as far away from Holland as you can get. :)

Point to remember - second hand items bought online are second hand. They are not new. Always factor in the possibility of needing to send a lens or body in for a clean, lubrication and adjustment (CLA). What you get back will quite possibly be as good as new, which is nice if the item can't be bought new anymore. One lens I bought from Wish-for-Leica looked perfect but needed a CLA to work perfectly. I sent it in to Leica Solms for this, as well as fitment of ROM. Patience is needed for this sometimes - while they were doing beautiful work on my beautiful lens they lost track of the job - but after a follow up and five months in all I received a lens that is just wonderful.

Good luck with your Leica hunting.

Have a look what Nivo Schweizer in the Haarlemmerstraat has on his shelves. Kamera Express is not much into used Leica any more.

As Jaap mentioned above, Nivo Schweitzer. But its not that big of a stock they have on used items.

Further Henny Hoogeveen in Lisse. Not that far a drive from Amsterdam, and it great to be able to try all the lenses out there.

Further try Meister Camera in germany (berlin or hamburg). When I was searching for a M9 I noticed they had the most stock in used M9's I could find and are prices pretty nice.

I bought a 50 cron from them last year, took 1 day to deliver in amsterdam.

Also, some shops also list on marktplaats.nl. Always worth a try. Only skip the to good to be true add from foto professional (achter damrak). They list for example a 35 cron for 1000 euro. But show pictures of the 35 cron ASPH to get people into their store.

I called them once for a 90 elmarit with a great price, off course the lens just had been sold, but they had something else for me.

Its a petty they act that way, always have nice stock.

I'm afraid you have to wait until the new M is available before NivoSchweitzer or HennyHoogeveen have occasions of M9 in store. Until that time the Buy&Sell of this site is perhaps a bit more trustworthy than Marktplaats

I stopped looking at PhotoProfessional ages ago. There was another one of their ilk, also on the Nieuwendijk, but it disappeared.

Several years ago (as a tourist) I had what was in my opinion a less than happy experience with these people. Let's just say I woudn't enter their shop again

Depending on your budget, you might either have to wait or go onto Marktplaats, EBAY, or other second hand fora.

I've never seen any used M9's cheaper than +4500 EUR in any (online)shop - God knows I've been looking. At FotoHennyHoogeveen they had a used M9-P which was still going for about 5K EUR.

I'll be taking over an M9 this Friday for 3500EUR. That's a huge difference.

I think a reliable store through EBAY with paypal protection would also be a good idea.

I was about to link to Talens Photo in Delft. Great people, great Leica store, but I just found out they're going out of business after 81 years...

Very sad story indeed.

Maybe this wil help them a bit: a few days before the decision to close, they received a package from Leica with new camera and lenses like

- the new Summilux 35 (€ 3950,=), which I'm almost sure no other reliable store in NL has in stock at the moment.

- and a M9-P too.

10% discount it is said...

Please mind that Henny Hoogeveen offers in ex BTW prices

Yeah I noticed that. Kinda strange considering that European Directive on distance selling and other national consumer protection laws would require prices to be quoted inc. VAT (prices ex-VAT can be shown separately of course).

Hi there,

I know this question was asked quite some time ago (nearly 7 years now lol) But I know that Foto Konijnenberg (Den Ham) is organizing a pretty exclusive Leica experience day where they will have a big selection of camera models available for testing. See their website (in Dutch) --> http://www.fotokonijnenberg.nl/agenda/leica-experience-day/
