Small bag for my M9

Just pick your look and get the accessory to match. It seems that ladies no longer have the monopoly on handbags...

I've just read this thread backwards (starting with Bill's observations) and it's quite amusing. (The Naneu Pro Military ops delta bag must take the prize for the funniest name.)

For myself, I've long favoured the popular solution of stuffing a Billingham insert into another bag but I no longer carry much gear with me (now almost always one body and one lens) and tend to find most bags are too big.

What fascinates me about this thread is that there is clearly something out there for everyone:

- The Ninja Fantasist

- The Country Squire

- The More-Money-Than-Sense Magpie

- The Thrusting Executive

- The Tree Hugger

- The Morris Minor Traveller Driver

- The Wannabe Steve McCurry

...and so on.

Regards,

Bill

.....and here I was thinking Bruno. Wassup!

...seriously, Oz_Hillbilly? You just made me splutter into my corn-flakes.

Size (LxHxD): 13.4" x 9.8" x 4.3"

Price: USD 1820.00

I believe the OP mentioned s/he was looking for a "small bag for my M9" with one, or maybe two lenses. There was also a reference to Wal Mart, albeit obliquely. Maybe it's just me, but I suspect the wonderfully crafted and desirable Louis Vuitton Omaha briefcase is somewhat beyond scope in both size and cost().

Then again I may be wrong. TGIF.

Maybe, maybe not? ;)

For a Leica kit, I like the old style Domke F3-X (before they changed the dimensions to add more height). I ran mine through the wash a few times, then gave it a few hours in the dryer (without heat) with 6 tennis balls and a pair of Vans tennis shoes to give it nice "I'm not a camera bag" look.

With a Domke F6 insert, it will hold a pair of M bodies with lenses attached, and at least a couple of other lenses. The side pockets hold film (or Gepe card safes), light meter, notebook, business cards, etc.

You are not fooling anyone, it looks exactly like what it is.....a camera bag. Now it just looks like a washed camera bag.

Leica Camera AG - Photography - 'BILLINGHAM' COMBINATION CASE

Hadley Camera Bags - Billingham

I use the khaki Billingham combinationbag, the black Hadley Small and just ordered the black Hadley Pro.

I prefer the Hadley Small, the combination bag is aldo a nice one, but does not fit perfect with the ThumbsUp attached to the M9. The Hadley Pro will be in use just in case everything is needed (ipad, filters, charger, extra compact camera, tabletop tripod etc.).

I keep using my Naneu Pro Military Lima bag - shoulder bag with a strap long enough to go over the neck. Excellent padding, messenger bag look and small enough to tuck inside a carryon if I'm travelling. Plenty of room for M9 three lens, flash, ipod, chargers, small notepad. Comes in three colors, black, dark blue and army green (my favorite) and assorted external straps and hooks if you need to klutz it up. There are several larger models which have a laptop compartment, but if I take out the padding inserts the Lima is large enough for my macpro 13", small portfolio and several folders. Grip is comfortable and the Naneu customer service has been excellent (small seam on shoulder strap started to unravel and they sent a replacement strap within two days no questions asked). Bag is relatively inexpensive (less than half of the

Domke competitor) but is sturdy and substantial. Internal padding is excellent and flexible.

No offense to anyone here but it looks like all of these bags are really not up to snuff compared to the M9. Has anyone ever tried the Gariz camera bags? They are utterly elegant looking and functional, at least in their slick advertising photos.

I personally found it a bit too oldish...not really my taste ! Seriously why people bothering so much about bags...as you long you like it it should be ok. people have all different tastes and the main goal with the is to be inconspicuous...

I only own an M with 50 lux so , on daily walk in nyc, just hang the camera around the neck and should be ok...oh if i want to hide the camera I just put in a sport bag see image with the rina case in it... yes it's a cheap marathon bag carrying more several k$ ..and it weights nothing maybe max 5-10oz

but who get more attention me or someone with a scared bag like a crumpler ?

I use an X1 system bag. It'll take one Digilux 2 or an M4 with two lenses and maybe a small table-top tripod in the front. Its very well made, (by Billingham as its a lot like my L2 bag) and the best thing there's no velcro fasteners

Let us know, Paul, what you think of the Gariz case when you get it. I am considering getting the smaller case for my Fuji X100. I just wish someone on these forums had purchased one already.

Geez

I feel really bad now

I just keep my MP dry inside a Baggie with an old quilt wrapped around it in the bottom of my dresser

Then if I need it to go out and shoot I grab that thing, put the strap around my neck and go take pictures

:o

the name suggested they're south korean. I bought a leather strap from one of korean brands - Ciesta (link), apparently it's made from very high quality italian leather. They also have camera bags, i have no experience but check out if you're interested.
