elgenper Posted July 12, 2010 Share #21  Posted July 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) ... I ran mine through the wash a few times, then gave it a few hours in the dryer (without heat) with 6 tennis balls and a pair of Vans tennis shoes to give it nice "I'm not a camera bag" look......  Wow! I do hope you took the M6 out first....  As for the bag, I agree it works great, even for M gear (somehow, I´ve managed to give it that beat-up look by just using it ). While it can take a lot of gear, it "collapses" nicely if it isn´t filled to capacity, and follows the body beautifully. Add to this that the material "breathes" like no synthetic or laminated stuff ever does, and it ends up far more comfortable to carry than most smaller bags

bocaburger Posted July 13, 2010 Share #22 Â Posted July 13, 2010 I agree with everyone on the various small Domke bags (F6, F-803/J-803, F3x). I have at least one of each. They're very convenient to work out of, partly because they all have simple flap closures over the open main compartment, with a single (or 2 in the case of the F6) metal clip that can be opened quickly with one hand, and partly because they have minimal padding (none on top). However those same working advantages present a disadvantage in terms of security. It's very easy for pickpockets to remove small items (like Leica lenses!) unnoticed if you're in a crowded situation, and if you have to set your bag down or relinquish it (as for an inspection at airport security), just pray it doesn't get knocked off a table or otherwise dropped. I use those bags a lot, but not for a travel trip.
Ed_K Posted July 14, 2010 Share #23 Â Posted July 14, 2010 I too use the Domke F-5XB, small enough to hold 1 M-body with at least 2 lens plus the charger or a flash, depends on your gear and preferences; in addition it got a zipper on top for added security. davidhunternyc Posted July 14, 2010 Share #24 Â Posted July 14, 2010 O.K. guys, you must agree that the M9 is a work of art and that Leica has made a masterpiece, no? thetoness Posted July 14, 2010 Share #27 Â Posted July 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased the newly redesigned Fogg flute. I was redesigned to perfectly fit the M9 with just about any lens attached. I must tell you it is perfect. The camera and lens fit snugly in the bag. The camera lens faces sideways in the bag avoiding a front on hit. Of course, the quality and workmanship of a Fogg bag is in a class by itself. photoeclipse Posted July 15, 2010 Share #31 Â Posted July 15, 2010 I find the Lowepro Inverse 100Aw an excellent as a quick scout waist pack. Â I agree with you, Tom-W - I have the same bag after a long search. I found Domkes, whilst great bags, tend to let in too much dust and associated garbage (although nothing beats the look of a beaten up Domke!). The LowePro is very secure, well designed and comfortable, and no extraneous material gets in. It's also not very expensive (which is a good thing!). The errors will be corrected soon, but until then, the correct numbers are as follows:  Compact: W155 x D65 x H210 mm  Airline: W155 x D65 x H245 mm  Pola: W180 x D80 x H210 mm
dickgrafixstop Posted August 6, 2010 Share #35  Posted August 6, 2010 I'd toss in the Naneu Pro Military ops delta bag or the lima for a bit more room. bags are cheap, well padded, comfortable straps, and durable. davidhunternyc Posted August 7, 2010 Share #37  Posted August 7, 2010 This thread is turning into the "Battle of the Bags". It was nice to see the high-end Louis Vuitton Omaha bag. It is made with high quality leather, it is elegant and, you are right, it doesn't look like a geeky camera bag. It is a little too "uppity" and too big for my tastes however. I prefer a bag with more of an edge to it. I ordered the above mentioned Carga 05 Felt bag for my Leica X1. When I got it I was quite pleased with it, however, it was a too big for my X1, and most importantly, it did not provide easy access to my camera. Underneath the main flap, you would expect the opening to be wide enough or loose enough to easily get your hand inside. Yet, in order to give the bag structure, the designer decided to double over the fabric which makes entry to the bag narrower and stiffer. The bag has a very narrow slit as its opening (not shown in photos). I wrote to Carga with my concerns and, to my surprise, the owner wrote me back and said he would be more than happy to make me a bag without the double lipped opening. I decided to take him up on his offer however I also decided to get the smaller Carga 04L bag. It is leather and even more hip than the felt. As of now, it is being made without the double lip. I will let everyone know how it turns out. One more thing of note and perhaps caution for those that are interested: The bag has an interior pocket and the back of the bag has exposed rivets that continue on into the inside pocket of the bag. As long as you don't put your camera in that interior pocket you are fine but some may not like exposed rivets anywhere inside the bag. The larger rivet you see on the front flap here is, thankfully, covered in leather on the inside. I am one of those people that think all camera bags are ugly but, from an ergonomic point of view, camera bags are more efficient. They are designed to do one thing; carry cameras. With that said, there will be ergonomic sacrifices with the Carga 04L. I will see what kind of fit the Carga is with my Leica X1.  http://www.cargabags.com/L04.php Welcome, dear visitor! a.g Posted August 13, 2010 Share #38 Â Posted August 13, 2010 The smallest bag that I use is a Caselogic TBC-304 Compact Camcorder/High Zoom Camera Case (Black). Â Size (LxHxD): 13.4" x 9.8" x 4.3" Price: USD 1820.00 Â I believe the OP mentioned s/he was looking for a "small bag for my M9" with one, or maybe two lenses. There was also a reference to Wal Mart, albeit obliquely. Maybe it's just me, but I suspect the wonderfully crafted and desirable Louis Vuitton Omaha briefcase is somewhat beyond scope in both size and cost(). Â Then again I may be wrong. TGIF. bill Posted August 13, 2010 Share #40  Posted August 13, 2010 What fascinates me about this thread is that there is clearly something out there for everyone:  - The Ninja Fantasist - The Country Squire - The More-Money-Than-Sense Magpie - The Thrusting Executive - The Tree Hugger - The Morris Minor Traveller Driver - The Wannabe Steve McCurry  ...and so on.  Just pick your look and get the accessory to match. It seems that ladies no longer have the monopoly on handbags...  Regards,  Bill
