YES, every member starts again as new user

YES it does matter - unfortunately because of the behavior of some users from the old forum which will not change here in the new forum :-((((

James I too can't see how it matters. Whether someone's posted 1 message or 4000, it's _what_ they post that matters.

Just because some of us post a lot doesn't mean our opinions are anymore important than someone posting for the first time :-)

That silly count is the least of the problems. This thing is so full of un-necessary frills that it completely overlooks the needs for simple usability. Like one of those gadgets we keep laughing at.

This is not to discount the efforts of our noble moderator. But this is overdone. The previous tool, other than it's speed, was more Leica like.

Ahh, yes George, but even Leica is going digital to keep pace with the world in which it needs to exist. Don't obsolete yourself by 'hanging back', but rather take a new breath and use it to its maximum benefit including new advantages. And just like a Leica, with multiple lenses, you are not bound to use them, but you may if desirable.:D

Experiment and enjoy,

Cheers,

Erl

I had about 100 posts on the older forum and now back to the start. I was hoping to find someone offering a similar service when I reach 100 years. Buddism possibly?

Yes, Buddism, but it is not sure you will return as human in yours rebirth, so... :)

Guest Rowley Birkin QC

Can't for the life of me see what those sad individuals who, after their names, post the pieces of Leica equipment which they have purchased, are thinking about, especially as they seem to have very little to offer in the way of creative photgraphs.

I agree with RB. 1 post or 1000 posts...who cares? I'm sorry, but I have better things to do my life than ponder about Non Sequitur.

RB, Te pasaste!

Jonathan, I do not care for the number of posts and find the militaristic classification based on number of posts plain ridiculous.

But please tell me in which way you find this complex and commercially funded/motivated Forum superior to the plain communication tool that Leica used to provide.

George, You must have a superior screen from me. I can't see any miliaristic notations on mine.

I don't find it any more complex than the computer on which I am viewing it. It's functionality is well ordered and clearly delineated. The use of colour and varied fonts is of great assistance to vision impaired viewers along with the use of 'indicator' symbols.

I am grateful that Leica, and any other body have funded it as it provides me with a FREE forum on which to express this opinion, and to view yours.

I must say that as I view this and other threads, I am totally unaware of any commercialism. Maybe it is the way my computer is configured.

As to the 'count' of how many posts I or anyone else have made. I guess that must be in the fine print, which I never read.

One last thing! It also allows those who wish to, to shout. Maybe that is a disadvantage.

Cheers,

Erl.
