Michael-IIIf Posted June 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday's London meet had a very different tone to our normal ones. The venue being the Imperial War Museum, the subject being Leicas and Holocaust and with Ivor having to leave early to attend a funeral it all made for a very contemplative meeting. The talks were excellent. Meeting Frank Dabba Smith was an honour and pleasure. I learnt much about the history of Leitz during the war which was very revealing. His passion for Leitz and his knowledge were inspiring. The Curator's talk on recently found photographs from the Holocaust was no less interesting and in some ways I found these candid photographs to be more moving than the countless books I've read, documentaries I've seen and visits I've made on this subject. All in all a thoroughly thought-provoking day and many thanks to Ivor and Brian for organising it. I wasn't much in the mood for taking photos but here are a few snaps from the day. farnz Posted June 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 28, 2010 Michael, I particularly like your first shot. I agree, it was a more contemplative meeting than usual but no less pleasant and exceptionally interesting. Pete.
