Advertisement Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Hi wlaidlaw, Take a look here What has gone wrong with the website today?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LUF Admin Posted June 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2010 Sorry, was offline (visit of Cologne zoo with my family). Back an hour ago, started trying to find the reason - I think I found and fixed it. It was the ad server which included a small gif from that malware site. Good news: You have an ad free forum for the time until it's finally fixed Andreas

LUF Admin Posted June 26, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found the issue: it was the ad server... I've shut him down and will switch to a secure version. Best regards from Bonn Andreas

biglouis Posted June 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 26, 2010 Hmmm. This explains why I suddenly had a warning from my anti-virus software. I now realise it was because of loading a page here in the forum.
andybarton Posted June 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 26, 2010 I have also advised Andreas about the Viagra ads that have suddenly turned up since moving to the new ad server...
archi4 Posted June 27, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 27, 2010 I wpuld be willing to pay a yearly subscription (like I gladly do for Sean Reid's site) in order to have a perfectly safe and ad free site. Any risk of malware again (I got the same red message as everyone) and that's the end of this site for me.

pop Posted June 27, 2010 Share #14 Posted June 27, 2010 I wpuld be willing to pay a yearly subscription. Don't you do it, then? You can become a paying member, you know, and then you'll be spared the ads in the forum.
archi4 Posted June 28, 2010 Share #15 Posted June 28, 2010 But not the dodgy server
LUF Admin Posted June 28, 2010 Share #16 Posted June 28, 2010 But not the dodgy server Sorry, I can't run this forum without a server - which is not "dodgy" The reason was a piece of software which is serving the ads in this forum which I keep the lights no. The problem was fixed by a minor update (2.8.1 => 2.8.5) and I took additional measures to prevent such incidents in the future. I can't promise 100% security - as no one can. My server admins and I do our best to keep the Leica Forum a secure place but who promises you 100 % security lies. This was the first time in about 10 years we had such an incident and it was fixed in minutes - as many users informed me directly.
