Stealth3kpl Posted June 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed the shop along the road has 11 neopan 400 rolls, expiry date 06/10. They have been sat on a shelf in the shop with no aircon. I've asked them if they fancy doing a deal for them. 1) do you think the film will be ok? 2) I'm sure I can get 10 fresh rolls for £32 so what do you think would be an acceptable price to pay? Advertisement Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here Expired neopan 400. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
PaulM Posted June 22, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2010 The film should be fine. I've used the stuff 6 months to a year past its expiration date without any problems. Generally, I rate it at an ISO of 320 and process in D76 1+1 or HC110 1:63. In New York, Neopan 400 goes for about $4 a roll, which probably isn't helpful information on your side of the pond. If you can get a deal on the lot, it's worth doing.
Stealth3kpl Posted June 22, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted June 22, 2010 I called back in and they offered it at half price. The trouble is full price is £6!! I may as well buy fresh film at £3.25. I might call in again at the end of the week and offer them £1 a film. Otherwise, I'll go back in 2 weeks time and route through their trash can out the back. andybarton Posted June 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2010 If you keep black and white film in the freezer, it will stay fresh indefinitely. Colour film lasts for years beyond its use by date too, if properly looked after. Probably half of the film in the bottom tray of our freezer is out of date.
