Advertisement Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Hi jsrockit, Take a look here My X1 review.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
caugustin Posted June 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2010 Very succinct My take would be a little longer and with more aspects on the pro side: Pro: IQ, simplicity, handling, size, weight, it's a Leica, … Con: only wide angle To me the AF seems to be not great but usable. A missing portrait tele (70 mm equiv. or similar) is the one point that makes me uncomfortable about this really nice piece of a camera. My thoughts are going X1 – E-P2 – X1 – E-P2 – X1 – E-P2 – X1 … no decision yet … (Okay, no real review, but I did some intense playing around at a Leica dealer with my own SD card in it, so I could inspect the results.) jsrockit Posted June 21, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted June 21, 2010 I guess my point was that is all this section of the forum has turned into... praise for the IQ and obsession over AF speed.
grober Posted June 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2010 After using an X1 infrequently for the last 90 days -- I'm right in the midst of starting a new business -- my review is also succinct and to the point: slow, s-l-o-w, SLOW! -g

Yes it has. So what's new? Rumors of new model must spring up soon!
Guest badbob Posted June 22, 2010 Share #8 Posted June 22, 2010 Yes it has. So what's new? Rumors of new model must spring up soon! So depending on how good the features look in the new model, the demand will grow accordingly. Which means you won't get one for 6 months to a year, waiting for the VIP's to get theirs, and then the same VIP's to get their replacements when the skin peels or whatever. Sorry to be cynical. phancj Posted June 23, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 23, 2010 I think photography for most of us is a hobby to be enjoyed, whatever gear that is comfortable and provides us with our expectations of design, user experience and most importantly of all, image quality. THe X1 shines in a sense it provides great images in a tiny package. I personally love this camera, and bring it around more so than ANY camera I have ever bought. Attached a pic taken of a tibetan boy who seriously loves to pose, and insisted I take pictures of him as spiderboy with a string/web haha...He wouldnt stop posing and tugged at me to take more pictures. Photo is jpeg direct from camera, with a little sharpening and tweaking done in aperture (my trial of aperture...not sure whether to buy it or use lightroom that came free with x1)...I personally would not wait for the next big thing to show up, and rather enjoy whatever I can best afford at the moment and which brings me enough joy to use, the X1 more than fits the bill. My wife is asking me to upgrade to the M9 and she wants the X1, having seen the quality of the pictures and the size of the cam, but I am not sure of using MF, so I am still deciding....but meanwhile, the X1 is my best toy, and it is the first toy that I am still enthusiastic with after 4 months..haha...
