tobey bilek Posted June 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2010 Screw to M mount adapter is easiest. Just screw it on. Get one that brings up 50 mm frames. Leica`s are the best, but you need to find used. CV makes some new and I have put my micrometer on the flanges of many and they are all correct thickness, the usuall error. Other brands can be so bad as to damage camera mount so beware of cheapos . If focus was correct on the lens originally, there should not be an issue. If you have a slight focus problem. DAG Camera Repair or Gloden Touch CAmera Repair should be able to touch it up. You need to be sure the fault lies with the lens and not camera. .95 will be very sensitive to miss calibration and focus shifting. Other lenses you own may have more tolerence giving he false impression the camera is good. If the lens is not a screw mount, then DAG is the one to totally change out the mount. You probably will not like the cost. Sorry, did not notice the China address. There have to be competent Leica repair people in Japan or a Leica dealer could recommend someone.. treeplanter Posted June 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2010 I used Ken Ruth (Photography on Bald Mountain) to modify my Canon 50/0.95 TV lens to fit my M3 and MP. Did an outstanding job too, the pictures taken wide-open are in-focus and sharp. He charges about $350.00 USD and will take about 3 months to do the work. You'll have to ask him whether he accepts work from China. Canon f 0 Jim B.
zeitz Posted June 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 20, 2010 Tobey, the Canon 50mm 0.95 does not have an LTM mount. It has a unique bayonet that only fits the Canon 7. So to use it on an LBM, it has to be modified. Kevin, kevincameras.com under modified lenses has several for sale that have already been modified. Compare the price of an unmodified lens + the cost of the modification to kevincameras prices to determine what you want to spend. You can also have the lens earlier. spydrxx Posted June 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 21, 2010 Ken Ruth at Photography on Bald Mountain in California did the same job for me about 10 years ago. It was a sort of goofy job which we talked about in advance, as there were a couple of options I had to decide upon before he could begin. All in all, he did a terrific job. I did have to supply him with an LTM->M adapter as well as the lens. I also sent him the camera body to ensure the lens was properly collimated. jaapv Posted June 21, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Basically, once you have a mount, any competent camera technician with precision machining skills can convert the lens. I would be highly surprised if there were not several of those in China.
