MEB Posted June 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2010 Stefan, Great timing. Very amusing photo. I would play with it a little in processing to tone down the highlights and give a little more contrast but the content of the picture is excellent. StS Posted June 13, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted June 13, 2010 Thank you for your feedback, Stuart and Mark, this is easily changed, however, I have the feeling I have to address post processing on a more principal level. Kind regards Stefan

geaibleu Posted June 15, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 15, 2010 The first version is by far the best as it allows, among other things, to see the bird's eye. The contrast is strong enough to emphasize the difference between the living pigeon and the stone dog without overdoing it. This is yet another case where the spontaneity is far better than too much post processing, and where the author's intent is better than the, albeit well intended, suggested modifications. Delicate humorous images must remain soft to be punchy!
pauledell Posted June 15, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 15, 2010 Stefan, Great timing. Very amusing photo. I would play with it a little in processing to tone down the highlights and give a little more contrast but the content of the picture is excellent. Mark Blumer Stefan, A fine shot with great content but I agree with Mark's suggestion. I think the revised shot is an improvement. Paul
StS Posted June 15, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted June 15, 2010 Thank you for your comments, Geaibleu and Paul, pointing to a different aspect. This is very insightful. Back in the darkroom days, there would have been a solution by dodging the head or eyes of the bird. I'll have to find a post processing program allowing this in a intuitive manner, but this is a discussion for a different subforum... Stefan
