kidigital Posted December 29, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very overcast day along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It gave me an opportunity to shoot the 75lux wide-open with the M8. My daughter is taking pictures of gulls with her Panny/Leica PS that she received for Christmas. Thanks for looking. martinop Posted December 29, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2006 Like the scene i.e. framing, shallow DOF / colors + the background fog.
arminw Posted December 29, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 29, 2006 Incredible scene and fantastic use of the 75 lux and M8. I love the DOF and soft light . Well done !!
Brett Cambern Posted December 30, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2006 The shallow DOF really gives it a 3D feel. Beautiful shot! Regards, Brett
square_one Posted December 30, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2006 Kurt- Beautiful color and composition in your overcasted scene, but I'm thrown out of balance by the strongly OOF immediate foreground of the very dominating and important stony beach, which I feel begs to be IN focus as it sweeps up to your daughter. Certainly beyond her the more OOF the better as it further mystifys the darkish, distant shoreline. Might the 75's shallower DOF forced a choice in this 'deep' image? I'm at odds with others here but anyway that's my take - admitting up front I've been deep into 8x10 where one always (not rightly necessarily) strives for max DOF and absolutely NO OOF! stuny Posted December 30, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2006 Kurt - Based on this and the earlier photo of your daughter (which is superb) you really got her something she likes a lot. This photo too is excellent for several reasons: subtle colors, selective focus, details, and placing the picture elements so they form two triangles.
