nicku Posted June 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a lightly used 90mm, 2.8 Elmerit from National Camera Supply. I noticed that there is about a half a click past the 2.8. Is this normal? a problem? I would like your advice before I call national camera supply. There don't appear to be any performance issues but being a true Leica owner, I like to obsess thanks Nick

Xmas Posted June 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi Look at what the blades do as the ring is moved. They should just appear as the ring is moved off max aperature... HCB probably never looked at his. Noel
msk2193 Posted June 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 6, 2010 Nick, Just checked mine (1965 era) that was serviced by Leica last month. It stops at the 2.8 mark and does not go any further.

They work just fine
250swb Posted June 6, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 6, 2010 I'd never noticed before, its common on many lenses for there to be an extra little bit of movement, but indeed I checked mine and yes it does go a bit past f2.8. Look on the bright side, it could be a fraction faster than Leica say, and its not a 'fault'. Steve
ezc203 Posted June 6, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 6, 2010 I have a 90 'Cron pre-APO that has a similar problem. Took it to a few specialists/dealers, who all said it's a very normal occurrence with some of the older lenses. I've stopped worrying about it... Shootist Posted June 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just checked all my lenses and all my Leica lenses, 90 Elmarit, 75 Summicron ASPH, 50 Lux ASPH, 35 Summicron ASPH & 28 Elmarit ASPH, turn past the widest aperture stop. The only lens I have that doesn't do it is a 21 CV Color Skopar M mount. that lens stops at the f/4 mark.

cliffp Posted June 7, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 7, 2010 find something else to obsess about. Any suggestions? Rangefinder adjustment and dirt on sensor are popular - or ruminate about whether you have exactly the correct set of lenses....
