i stumbled upon a bird's egg (robin ?) on the ground while digging in the garden . . . i felt badly, could not see a nest up above . . this poor thing is doomed, so i had to imortalize it by posting it's photo on the internet before some animal comes along and eats it . . .

 

this is not for critical feedback . . . it's just a . . . an epitaph, i guess.

Hey Dave you could have taken it in and hatched it.

Sometimes the female does not make it to the nest and had to lay it on the ground. Or it was dropped by a predator most likely.

It's a wonderful photograph; a metaphor for all living things, I suppose. There is always risk, and this one lost. There will be others, successful, if nature is left to its own devices.
