Beresford Posted June 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having been a film user all my life I have just taken the plunge and bought an M9. What a lot I have to learn! To get from Clic to Pic is such a different experience. I know I will be picking the brains of this forum over the coming weeks, so here is my first question: When transferring pictures out of the camera and onto the computer do you usually remove the memory card or do you use the usb cable? Larwol Posted June 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2010 I find it easier and faster to use the SD card. I began by using the cable but found that it was very slow and were often downloading errors
zlatkob Posted June 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 2, 2010 I remove the memory card from the camera and insert the card into a Sandisk memory card reader. This way, there is no need to use camera battery power to do the transfer.
250swb Posted June 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 2, 2010 I use either the card reader in my PC, or a USB card reader, never from the camera. Its much quicker. Then after verifying all the images have downloaded OK I reformat the card in the camera and its ready to go again. Steve
andybarton Posted June 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 2, 2010 It's also a lot safer as you are not continually using the small USB socket. These can and do wear out (as many a Blackberry owner will testify) and the last thing you want is for the socket to short out on you. Do a search here for USB and you will see many a thread giving you the same advice.
lykaman Posted June 2, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 2, 2010 Hi, all great advice - one thing -> remember to Format your card in the Camera (not the computer)
Beresford Posted June 2, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted June 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you so much for your advice everyone. And, Andy, you are quite right: I will do better searching. I just wanted to register how pleased I am with my new Leica! (My other one is an M6.)
