meatboy Posted May 29, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Leica forum Buy/Sell here seems to be devoid of LTM equipment for sale. Where should I look for a good user IIIf or something similar. I like my equipment to be cosmetically good but it does not have to be mint. Any hints as to who will ship worldwide but is a safe seller? I don't want a collector piece, just something to be used regularly, cared for and admired. I am wanting to slow down and try the LTM way of working and experience what it was like to use such equipment. Perhaps there is a different body I could consider? a IIc or IIIc perhaps? 50mm is fine for me. Many thanks in advance. Tim
Advertisement Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hi meatboy, Take a look here Where for a LTM?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted May 29, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2010 I bought a IIIf for my wife for Christmas from RedDot. Ivor has a good selection of LTM bodies and lenses, ships anywhere and in my experience is 100% fair and reliable.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 29, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2010 Many choices in Europe: here's an example of a user IIIf with Elmar : Schouten Select Cameras & Accessories Other good and trustable e-shops who ship worldwide : Leicashop, Newoldcamera, Leicabeimeister, Rahn, MW classic... Guest imported_torben Posted May 29, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2010 Four weeks ago, I checked out several IIIfs all in very nice condition @Photografica in Copenhagen
bill Posted May 29, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2010 London Camera Exchange in Guildford have a couple of nice LTMs at the moment; one's a IIc, the other a III, but I didn't pay attention to the exact model. Ask for Martin (the manager) and mention my name. There's nothing to beat a Barnack for back to basics revival of a jaded palate. Rangefound: Unplugged... chris_livsey Posted May 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2010 https://secure.ffordes.com/index.htm I have used them and had no problems others also have reported good experiences. 20 x LTM bodies when I just looked.

richam Posted May 29, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 29, 2010 Picked up a iiif with f2 Summitar at Adorama in NYC last November. Excellent condition, reasonable price. Checked with other large dealers in NYC, but not too many handle LTM anymore.
meatboy Posted May 30, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted May 30, 2010 A big thank you to everyone for the links and suggestions, I'm still working my way through them. Andy, that RedDot have a nice easy site to navigate. I've even had an offline offer from a forum member to buy something so I should be good. I am just surprised how reasonably priced the LTM stuff is, they are quiet bargains really.. sshhh.
storybrown Posted May 30, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 30, 2010 If you're in the US -or even if you're not - don't forget KEH - Buy & Sell New & Used Cameras – Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica & More - KEH.com the first transaction with them is sometimes a little herky-jerky, I've heard, but thereafter and usually always it's smooth and entirely dependable. good luck! andybarton Posted May 30, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 30, 2010 If you do buy something via a PM on the forum, please consider making a small contribution. The small fee from sales helps to keep the lights on here. I have recently had another issue with an item from ffordes. They refunded my money straight away, but they seem to have too much stock to check the quality and the item wasn't as described. YMMV, but I will not be troubling their website again.
