d2mini Posted May 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've seen this mentioned before. Where does one obtain one? Will places like Radio Shack have a generic cable that will work? I wish there was just a fold out set of prongs like other camera battery chargers, instead of the long cord. Advertisement Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Hi d2mini, Take a look here Shorty Plug for M9 Charger?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ianspector Posted May 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 28, 2010 In the UK every piece of Apple hardware I acquire has a two pronged male connector to fit in their localised adapter. I just use it directly into the charger if I really cannot suffer the weight of the long lead. It becomes one integrated wall wart. Ian
gwelland Posted May 28, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 28, 2010 In the US I purchased mine from Amazon: 1ft Power Cable

I wish there was just a fold out set of prongs like other camera battery chargers, instead of the long cord. I only use the adapters that come with the Apple hardware. I have tons of iPhone, Powerbook chargers that are redundant so y rescue those white adapters and stick them directly to chargers. Not only the Leica but also Nikon or any other instead of that redundantly long chord...
jaapv Posted May 28, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 28, 2010 I wish there was just a fold out set of prongs like other camera battery chargers, instead of the long cord. You should have seen the complaints about that with the M8 charger, which had just that. "I could not plug it in in my hotel room because the socket was just above the floor"etc. The cable is so generic, btw, that I threw a dozen of them belonging to long-scrapped appliances in the bin a few weeks ago. 3rdtrick Posted May 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 28, 2010 The price was right so I bought 10 of these and use them on my computers and camera chargers. It allows me to keep my charger in my Domke FX5b without having to carry the cord. They arrived in two days and I would buy again from this company. dbraid Posted May 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 28, 2010 I, too, have used the apple piece that adapts from the figure eight connector to the two-prong US plug. The only problem is that the figure eight connector on the charger is far enough from the back surface of the charger that the prongs are too short the fit the outlet properly--I can make it work most of the time. 3rdtrick, are the plugs you link long enough to avoid the problem? I also bought a 1 foot cord which is almost as compact and "packable" as these other devices. Donald

zeitz Posted May 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 28, 2010 Apple part number MB974ZM/A (World Travel Adapter Kit) provides a full set of 6 adapters for wherever you may go. There are some of the shrouded European receptacles that require a little inginuity. So bring a few of the simple US to Europe adapters.
