mintnana Posted May 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I was walking around to looking for photogenic scenes in rain. Suddenly the red indicator in the viewer has disappeared. I thought it is a battery death. Keeping on shooting, came back home. Noticed a miserable hole in front of my lovely M6! Because of putting a hand grip on her, missed a serious defect. Woo??? What happened? It is incredible! M6 is already old model. Is it hard to find another genuine substitution? Maybe another electrotic models' fit for M6, but my heart is broken like a big hole in my favorite picture. Someone may need an extra one for stand-by just in case like me. I found solace in reading this forum and beautiful works……

veraikon Posted May 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2010 Is it hard to find another genuine substitution? No - Leica offers IMHO two spare battery covers: the original one and a little different one (better to open) Ask your local customer service. MPerson Posted May 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2010 When you get the replacement just put a dab of clear nail varnish on the thread and screw tight.
mintnana Posted May 23, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted May 23, 2010 Thank you very much for your kind information, Mr. Veraicon The local customer service is off duty Sunday, I ought to have spent a long sleepless night today. But I’m sure to fall into a sound sleep with your kindhearted Information. Thank you very much for your insightful comment, Mr. Andy I can’t imagine this type of accident on a precision instrument such as Leica M. But it’ not extraordinary event with the motorcycle. I would try a lock tight paste (mild type) for motor cycle, Accept this accident for myself. Appreciate your two posting! The God of photography bless you, for two good folks! alun Posted May 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 24, 2010 Oddly enough this almost happened with my M6TTL just last w/e. Strange because just a few weekends before when I had needed to change the battery, I could hardly get the cover off! And then when I was shooting the other w/e, i spotted it just as the cover was literally parting company with the body... I guess the pressure of holding the body over the cover mounting had somehow partially unscrewed it...
budrichard Posted May 24, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2010 Leica sells a battery cover with a slot in it for a coin to help remove and replace. Simply order one of these and your done. don't worry. Works great.-Dick

mintnana Posted May 31, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted May 31, 2010 Thank you for paying attention with my trouble. I’m surprised at how many trouble like me were there. My problem had been resolved for only two days by the official Leica dealer. And it cost about $50 with freight collect.
