After waiting for months, I finally got one today from my local dealer. He got two Leica X1s today, but there's a long waiting list so I can't really contribute much else to the thread. But I think they're starting to get more X1's, so it shouldn't be too long before you guys get your hands on one. Good luck! :)

Cami, Thank you so much!! mine is on its way!!;) according to Doug, the two Leica rep's where in and hand delivered 3 X1's and 1 S2, the two Leica Representatives did say that these X1's had been pick up by them 3 days earlier HOT OFF the assembly line from Germany where they were in a conference about the new lens and sales meetings, Shillers was there first of several stops coming up for servicing of the client acct's, Which in discussion?? I guess, with whats up with availability of X1's , M9's and S2 and the New 35mm M lens will likely start too flow. One of Schillers sales reps did say though that I did get the last one a one other X1 was all ready prepaid earlier for a regular client of there's and that the third one would have to remain as a (Demo//Display model) for there retail store.;)

Best, chris m.

I know who that first X1 was sold to... ME ;)

I called last Friday Tamarkin & Co in Woodbridge, CT and they told me that they were waiting for a Leica shipping on Monday from New Jersey . Today they called me and mine is coming tomorrow....BUT also spent some months calling Adorama and others places...

Try calling small stores; sometimes is better and you do not have to wait for months...

What is so hard about making this particular camera that after announcing it's finally available four months ago retailers still can't get it in stock? Can anyone offer any insight into this major camera roll-out fiasco? Even M's don't take that long and they're freakin' made by hand.

First thing to do is get onto the Leica In-Stock Tracker website.

Leica Cameras In Stock Tracker - M9, S2, X1, D-LUX 4 - NowInStock.net

If you follow these very closely (every couple of hours), you may snag one. And if you don't snag one, take note of the places where they do pop up in stock, and place your order there.

Many Many THX!! to badbob. I ordered X1 yesterday @ OneCall.com, it just ship out today.....hahaha. NowInStock.net is very helpful. I checked it at 2:45pm PT yesterday, it showed Onecall.com had stock. After 20 minutes later, it showed "out of stock" again. WoW, Leica X1's so hot!!!!! Lucky me, I dont have to keep waiting......THX again! badbob:)

Called Kathy at Tamarkin in CT a week ago to ask about inventory. She called back to say she would have X-1's on Monday the 17th. They just shipped my X-1 and it arrives tomorrow! To say I'm excited is an understatement.

Call Kathy to see if she still has inventory 203.397.9191.

Just called and was told they are only selling as a kit with some other stuff for $2499

I hate that - it's such a *douche* move of a retailer to pull. I would personally never buy ANYTHING from Willoughby's. Ever.

One available new sealed box here at my Leica dealers in Brisbane Australia owing to a cancelled order. I'm not sure if it's OK to mention dealer names but PM me if you would like the dealer contact details. They do supply international orders.

That would be me. I had to go offshore pending a decision on my residency, as a result, was unable to take delivery, given that there was a slight chance I would be unable to return.

The agency called me at 11:00 and the dealer called ten minutes later. It's awful, awful timing.

Very upset by it all, however, I am now a permanent resident of this wonderful country. :)

I'll be back in a few weeks and will take up a new position on the waiting list.

for what it's worth, i got in the habit of checking b&h inventory several times each day. about two weeks ago the status went from unavailable to in stock. i clicked and bought immediately. i'm glad i did. after receiving the camera and charging the battery i took the camera up to santa fe for the day (mother's day). the quality of the shots (150 RAW+JPG shots) was much better than i expected from such a small lens. as good as if not better than my canon 7d with 16-35L lens.

Well if you are now back in a few weeks and still want the camera. send the dealer some dollars and I'm sure that your camera will wait for you!

An X1 in the hand is worth several on waiting lists :)

If you can get one, you'll appreciate that just unboxing it is worth a good part of the cost of admission.

Well, as expected the one or two in stock sold out in half an hour..won't make that mistake again (reserve fund for x1 immediate purchase!). I have basically decided that I enjoy most of my photography at the 35mm or similar range, and for the limited need I have for higher speed I'll use my old rebel and get a better lens for it, that keeps me under three grand for now..so now it's back to finding one..though a local shop here should get them in shortly. One guy said they are backordered four, the other guy said they are through deposits and while others have inquired it will be first come first serve. I certainly hope they have resolved the build quality issues, it's not something I I'll tolerate on a fixed focus cam for two grand. I realize it's not a lot of money to some and in fairness I spend money like that on computer stuff regularly..but it is the mot expensive compact out there, and should be built to reflect that.

That said, I am rally excited..I've bounced back and fourth but this has been the cam I've wanted since intro...it's time to shut up and get what I want..can't take the money with us I suppose! I just hope shoddy build doesn't let me down.

So if anyone gets notified and want to pass it on, I'd appreciate it!
