oskarhhh Posted May 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I need a spare battery for my digilux 2. I´ ve found replacement batteries (not original) that are quite cheap, compare to the original ones. Is there any risk to use those? What is your experiences? Thanks/ oskar

cbretteville Posted May 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2010 Back in 2004 I bought third party batteries for my D2 and they have been working fine for me over the years. The ones I chose were from a supplier others here had already purchased the same batteries from, used them and and shared their experience here. So I minimized the risk. With my M8 I've only used originals. An important thing to remember is to choose batteries with the exact same specification as the original. That is if you end up choosing to buy after market batteries from other supplies than Leica or Panasonic. The same batteries were used in Digilux 1, Digilux 2 and Digilux 3 (as well as their Panasonic equivalents). Carl
stuny Posted May 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 14, 2010 Carl is absolutely correct except for one specification. Everything else being equal, a battery with geater amp/hour rating should last longer between charges and still be compatible with your D2. Batteries such as that began appearing about the time the D3 came out.
Pol-Alexandre Posted May 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2010 Hello! I need a spare battery for my digilux 2. I´ ve found replacement batteries (not original) that are quite cheap, compare to the original ones. Is there any risk to use those? What is your experiences? Thanks/ oskar The original Leica Battery for Digilux 2 is BP-DC 1 (also for Digilux 1) . The Digilux 3 needs the battery BP-DC 3 (more capacity). The BP-DC 3 is also compatible with the Digilux 2 and its charger ACA-DC3. Attention ! Cheap replacement batteries from Hong-Kong can be anything from good to total loss (lackof capacity) ! The capacity figures quoted for these cheap batteries can be false ! There are presently original BP-DC 1 batteries for sale on eBay !
