Turn off your camera, remove the battery and memory card.

With both removed, replace the cover.

Turn on your camera and press the shutter button. This will draw down any possible remaining current in your camera.

Charge your battery 100%

Make sure your memory card is one that Leica approves and has tested.

Replace the battery and card. Turn on your camera and see if it works now.

If you still have the same issues, ask your dealer to FedEx or DHL it to Germany for quick repair or replacement. I hope this won't be necessary.

Good Luck.

This is a fault that is a cooperation between a bad camera design and a faulty battery.

Get the dealer to give you a new battery, charge it to 100%, insert it, and the camera may restart.

Every battery won't work, you may need several.

This is probably a stupid question, but did you try resetting the entire camera to factory settings while it's responsive?

Another try would be to re-apply the firmware, new SD-card as battery, as has being said already.

Good luck and best,

Michael

1. reformat the card in the computer

2. Put it in the camera . Set file numbering to continuous in the menu and reformat the card in the camera.

3. Return the card to the computer, change the number of the DCIM folder by changing the first 9 to 1

4. Put in the camera, take one image, and reformat.

Somebody used a card with a very high file number in your camera, and it has reached the end of its numbering, that is why it asks for a reset of the file number.

Yes, I think the fact Leica have given you a back-to-front camera is a real bonus, the collectors will love it and will not mind the fact it's stopped taking pictures.

I LOL'ed.

I hope you get your M9 fixed soon. You could ask your dealer to send your camera to Leica HongKong instead. I had a problem with my sensor board, and my dealer gave me an option of sending it to Hongkong or to Germany. And since I'm in Asia, sending it to Hongkong is much closer, and takes much less time. So I'd suggest you doing that.

I got my M9 back after 10 days.
