mboerma Posted May 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I haven't been able to find anything on this possible problem so I post a question myself. Has anyone of you noticed that while reviewing photos in the M9 sometimes the screen goes black and after pressing the play button again it is reset to the first photo? This could be some sort of hardware or software reset. Anybody an idea? Thanks, Maarten

jaapv Posted May 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2010 What you are seeing is the camera going into auto-shutoff during reviewing (a known bug) and reawakening.
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted May 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2010 Rumours have it, this will be dealt with within the next s/w-update ... Set the >>Review time<< to 10 Min. so it doesn´t happen toooooooo quickly. Your M9 can think by itself and doesn´t want to waste energy, these beasts like to be more clever than their masters. Shade Posted May 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2010 Like everyone said, its the silly auto off feature.. They really should release an update soon for this, kinda annoying..
toona Posted May 7, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2010 This happens to me as well. very annoying if you're looking through a bunch of pictures. I played around with the display duration settings, and noticed it didn't happen when i set the feature to a longer duration. unscientific test, but agree that I hope it is fixed in the next firmware update. scott kirkpatrick Posted May 7, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 7, 2010 Rumours have it, this will be dealt with within the next s/w-update ... I know we discussed this and clearly identified it as a bug within a day or so after 1.116 came out, saying that it was obvious that Leica will fix this simple problem (it didn't occur in the previous release) in their next update. But has Leica said anything or are the "rumors" just our own wishful thinking? scott
brill64 Posted May 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) the auto off feature saves battery which is what i value when i'm busy.
mboerma Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted May 7, 2010 Thanks for the replies. The auto off is one thing but why does it reset to the first photo? That really is a bug and very annoying. Let's hope it gets fixed. Maarten
zlatkob Posted May 7, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 7, 2010 The beta testers really need to catch these things.
mjh Posted May 7, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 7, 2010 The beta testers really need to catch these things. On the other hand, with auto power off set to 5 minutes (my standard setting with any camera) I’ve never noticed it either.
mboerma Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted May 7, 2010 I've my M9 set to two minutes. I have no idea when it starts counting down. Probably it is the light meter. It should count any activity, but most importantly is not to reset to the first photo.
jaapv Posted May 7, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 7, 2010 The point is it really powers off. So when you revive it it reverts by default to the last photo taken. As you are pushing the play button it will skip one forward, that being the first one. If you hit for instance the shutter release and then the play button you will see the last image taken. mboerma Posted May 8, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks, Jaap. I'll have a look. What I noticed was that it always resets to the first photo on the card. I haven't been filling my 16GB card as much as this before, that's reason I find it annoying.
