devermb Posted May 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a camera stand that in effect gives me the same ability to manipulate the camera to get the right angle as if I were holding it myself. It would be more flexible that a conventional tripod but would allow me to move the camera up or down in a way that I can't do it with a tripod. Is there anything like that on the market? adan Posted May 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 6, 2010 Alternatively, you could try to assemble something yourself using something like this Manfrotto articulated arm w/camera plate - would need a tripod or heavy-weight light stand as a base: tripods, heads, monopods, light stands, camera supports, lighting supports, professional tripod 143 - MAGIC ARM KIT

Xmas Posted May 6, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 6, 2010 Hi Monopod or Leitz large ball and socket + table tripod or I've seen a circular ring about 30cm in diameter which mounts a camera in centre and reduces shake by increasing the lever arm effect, you hold the ring... We probably need more words about the requirement? Noel

devermb Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted May 7, 2010 To offermoreinfo on what I am looking I am looking for something that will move backords and forwards and around in circles, curlicues etc. on which I'd mount the camera, but also something that can go up or down, and above something that is less expensive than the services that the two women would offer . . . . . and suggestions? earleygallery Posted May 8, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 8, 2010 I've seen exactly what you need, it's a rig for tv cameras with a seat for the cameraman, a multi directional platform and an extending boom, but I suspect it will be even more expensive than the 'personal assistants' and you will need a HGV licence to move it around.
