likalar Posted May 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica M9, 50mm Summicron. The Kaiwo Maru, from Tokyo, called on San Francisco Bay today. She is a training vessel, 309' to 361' long (yes, conflicting numbers), and was launched in 1989. Thank you for taking the time to look here. stuny Posted May 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2010 Larry - Handsome subject, beautiful shots. Perhaps the two lengths reflect counting and not counting the bowsprit and ensign.
pauledell Posted May 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2010 Larry, Great shots. The first is a magnificant portrait of the tall ship that is accentuated by the reflections of the masts. The second shot demonstrates the complexity of the rigging. Both have great composition, tones and sharpness. Paul

likalar Posted May 10, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted May 10, 2010 David, Al, Ben, thank you! Ben, My little geezer boat is 14', hates wind and chop. So do I. Nearly all my water shots are calm. Glad you liked the picture! Al, try one out. You might really like it! But nothing wrong with grey hair! ;-) Larry
elansprint72 Posted May 15, 2010 Share #16 Posted May 15, 2010 Superb photo set. That is an interesting rig, with the double yards. The short length is probably the waterline and the long length the overall.
