leicamr Posted May 5, 2010 Share #21 Posted May 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) No. My R system provides all the image quality I require. It is a much better looking body with or without a DMR attached, compared to the rather Japanse looking S2. The fact that the R and S bodies were styled by the same person / company I am stunned by the minimal styling effort of the S2. If I didn't have an R system would I buy the S2 in preference to a top end Nikon or Canon, YES. Mark
Advertisement Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hi leicamr, Take a look here R owners, would you sell all your gears to get the S?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lykaman Posted May 5, 2010 Share #22 Posted May 5, 2010 Hi, well my trusted R6.2 & Lenses slowly became my back up after going with the Nikon D300 & some great lenses..I have just purchased a D3000 as a back-up & secondary shooting tool. I still use my/the original D-Lux and of course my DL4... As the market is pretty saturated with cost effective & very well specified DSLR units maybe Leica should consider improving on the existing range technically & in QC /reliability. Jamie Roberts Posted May 5, 2010 Share #23 Posted May 5, 2010 Assuming I could afford an S2, and there were an R lens adapter for it (maybe with a "small RAW mode" on the S2 to go with it), then yes, of course I would get it. The form factor and viewer are outstanding on the S2; it handles extremely well and I actually found it a bit easier to hold than the DMR/R9 combo. But I can't afford it, and you can't adapt the lenses yet, right? So why would I do it?
farnz Posted May 6, 2010 Share #24 Posted May 6, 2010 Ah, but Jamie, you wouldn't need adaptors because you've sold all your "gears" to buy the S2 so you don't have any R lenses to use on it. Pete.
dhsimmonds Posted May 6, 2010 Share #25 Posted May 6, 2010 The S2 is not my kind of camera, so definitely no! (I still have two MF film camera's collecting dust in my attic!) The R10 would have been another matter entirely.......but it was not to be.
GreyCoupe Posted May 9, 2010 Share #26 Posted May 9, 2010 Maybe--what I liked about my R8 was the ability to take off the winder and add the 35-70 and take the camera along on vacations. Small enough, light enough. I don't think S2 offers that kind of flexibility.
