Lot 45 the earliest known NASA camera - a Leica IIIb c.1940 is interesting - and has provenance. I was unaware that NASA existed in 1941.

The above is a very fine and interesting item... base price is not too high... I wouldn't be surprised if it will bring in a number of increasing bids. Probably, it is not a Leitz-factory modification, but seems anyway smartly engineered.

Btw, some months ago I red a book on italian spies during WWII, and it reported the stories of 2 or 3 nice italian women who worked for English Secret Services, using the normal policy of fine women to approach Italian Army and Navy officiers... and the book details that they received a "special Leica camera" for their work...
