thinkfloyd Posted April 26, 2010 Share #21 Posted April 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) @lct: in between replies, I've been reading up on the 35/1.4. Aside from the focus shift issues, it looks like a swell lens. Flaring? Even with the MC version? Unfortunately, where I live, there's no way I can test copies... Advertisement Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi thinkfloyd, Take a look here Can the 40 Rokkor or Summicrom be coded 4 M8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted April 26, 2010 Share #22 Posted April 26, 2010 I have no personal experience of the CV 35/1.4 MC. From what i've seen on the web it flares less than the SC but its bokeh is harsher. Now if you like the OoF rendition of the CV 35/2.5 you could be happy with the MC. Just i guess though.
thompsonkirk Posted April 27, 2010 Share #23 Posted April 27, 2010 Ben, have you followed Graeme Hutton's lovely posts? They're all with 40 Summicron. It's just great on M8 or M9. It's sharp at F2 – IMO sharper than 35s of same vintage – & low on contrast. DAG will code it for you – he takes off the mount, sends it to Millich, & then codes; & for only $10 more, if I remember correctly, mills the mount to bring up 35 framelines, which are actually more accurate for the 40 than for a 35. Yes there's a screw where the codes go, but that doesn't stop him. Go ahead with this one! Also he has adapters so you can use 39mm UV/IR filters instead of the odd size.
