Several more posted today. If the explanations are true, it appears many who jumped into the M waters for the first time are having second thoughts. I also jumped, but you'll have to pry it out my hands at gunpoint :D .

I am amazed if people give up on this camera. I used an M3 many, many years ago but have long since moved to Canon (currently 1D mk iv) for wildlife but a birthday M9 has taken me back a few decades and I am re-learning all over again. What I find annoying is the poor LCD screen and, using AWB, poor white balance. But adjust the white balance in CS4 and that is about all I do. The shots are razor sharp unless its my fault (I struggle a bit with my glasses) and the colour rendition, clarity and cleanness of the images are startling. Battery life is a bit short but give it back / sell into the secondary market - I'd have to be crazy! Whether it is value for money depends on how much money you have I guess but its a wonderful piece of kit.

I can't understand why these Mint- cameras aren't being offered to / snapped up by the people on waiting lists.

If an authorised dealer still has a waiting list, which most if not all do, then if one comes in or is made available as a factory refurb, then why would it ever get as far as the stage in front of the second hand department camera? I would have expected them to go out of the door the same day that they came in.

Ffordes Photographic have one described as Mint-

In their Used stock at £4990

In their New Section Pre Order at £4850

Supply and demand I guess, will be interesting to see if anyone bites !!

Maybe someone who does not have patience will.

"Used (mint)" means different things when said by different people. I know one dealer who uses this phrase to describe brand new grey market units. They sell at a slightly lower price than brand new, and have an international (Solms) warranty, rather than a Leica US warranty. If asked, that dealer will tell you that the cameras are new. And the SKU for these reads "INTxyzw" .
