jpattison Posted April 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, in the old DPReview of the M8 this is stated... all new M series lenses now carry a six-bit code which allows the M8 to identify which lens is used and (optionally) apply a 'final stage' software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made). Is this true? Surely the correction is made to the RAW data before it's written to the SD card, as well as the JPeg. Otherwise I'd have seen loads of threads complaining about having some PP do do! Thanks, John
Advertisement Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Hi jpattison, Take a look here Lens correction in camera ( by 6 bit coding). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted April 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2010 I wouldnt pay too much attention to this kind of statement if I were you, especially old ones from the early days of the M8. The corrections are applied before the DNG (or JPG) is written.
