jsrockit Posted September 29, 2010 Share #61 Posted September 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This thread has turned into just another X1 bash-fest (yawn.) Let's see some more interesting ways the X1 is capturing a motion shot. I don't even care if it's blurred if the effect of what you wanted was there. I am an X1 user (love it), but I'm also honest about the performance of my cameras. We never said the photos in this thread were bad, but we were just trying to point out the difference between anticipating the action (waiting for your moving subject to get to you, camera ready) and instantaneous, quick action that cannot be anticipated (oh wow, I just made a photo of bird dropping a crap bomb on a guy's head* ). The latter requires the camera to focus and release the shutter in a very quick manner or you lose the shot. Generally the X1 is not very good for this. It's no big deal to most of us users, but the camera would be so much better if it could do this type of quick action without anticipation... even through properly implemented manual zone focusing. * Yes, I know, who would want such a photo. However, it was the only split second photo that came to mind just now.
Advertisement Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hi jsrockit, Take a look here Proof the X1 can shoot action. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jsrockit Posted September 29, 2010 Share #62 Posted September 29, 2010 I stand corrected, did Frank use and M3 or II or IIIa? I believe it was a III model of some sort... Check this out: Not his camera, but still cool... Citysnaps
johM8 Posted September 29, 2010 Share #63 Posted September 29, 2010 The Palio ones would be good if you had got the horses in the frame, looks like you fired too early. They said that there were 50000 peoples in that square so we were packed in like sardines I did not saw much and every body were pushing...
elansprint72 Posted September 29, 2010 Share #64 Posted September 29, 2010 They said that there were 50000 peoples in that square so we were packed in like sardines I did not saw much and every body were pushing... So it is understandable that you pushed the shutter too soon for each shot, especially as it is such an unsuitable camera for action, as all the other photos on this thread have proven. If you guys think the X1cuts the mustard as an action camera, post your shots in the Sport and Leisure-time photo forum, that's where photos belong. Citysnaps From quick online check, looks like maybe a IIIc, at least for the early part of it. He was very secretive about it.

However, it was the only split second photo that came to mind just now. Understood. I see your point. Guess I never really shot that way. Would have a heck of a time (for me) composing a shot in an instant like that. Maybe if I could swing the body to my eye in time. Don't get me wrong, the shutter lag in the X1 is a challenge to say the least. My point was it is still capable of capturing motion if used correctly and see it coming
tom0511 Posted September 30, 2010 Share #67 Posted September 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) why talk the x1 into a camera which it is not. Its great like it is but it is not an action camera (IMO)
