bill Posted September 12, 2010 Share #21 Â Posted September 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anticipation, anticipation, anticipation. Â Learn your camera, understand its capabilities and limits and compensate for them with the wetware between your ears. Â I don't doubt that the X1 can produce stunning images, but it appears to be the photographic equivalent of the Starfighter; if you don't respect it, understand it and adapt to it, then it will bite you. If you treat it like an ordinary PHD you will crash and burn. If you harmonise with it you will get the best from it. Â Regards, Â Bill

Nicoleica Posted September 12, 2010 Share #25 Â Posted September 12, 2010 OK, got me gloves on, who's first?... Â I was actually referring to an album from the '70s. If you've never heard it, it is well worth listening to. Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
tom0511 Posted September 12, 2010 Share #26 Â Posted September 12, 2010 Â it is possible but frienkly as much as I like the X1 regarding action it just sucks. with the E-P2 is 3times as easy to catch action, with the D700 10 times. Â So Leica give us that Firmware upgrade that the x1 gets at least close to the m4/3s. Â By the way the m4/3 also offer c-af - I wouldnt mind if the x1 offered that option as well-or did I oversee it. Â for anything else I really do like the X1. Guest badbob Posted September 12, 2010 Share #27 Â Posted September 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) So Leica give us that Firmware upgrade that the x1 gets at least close to the m4/3s. Â I don't think that's going to happen. The X1 isn't in the same performance league with the m4/3 cameras due to its design, and that isn't software. The camera will always be sluggish. Â It is said the sensor can not be read out as fast as m4/3 but rumours say thatit can and will be improved somewhat. If it really happens and how much we dont know. Personally I am still hoping to get some improvement.
RichardM8 Posted September 13, 2010 Share #29 Â Posted September 13, 2010 It has been discussed before. There is very little (if any) speed to be expected from a firmware update. Â The frame-rate of the X1 sensor is 24 f/ps. From the current M4/3 it's 60 f/ps.
JanCderidder Posted September 13, 2010 Share #30 Â Posted September 13, 2010 Always keep in mind though that shooting action with the X1 can result into a fantastic and totally OOF experience.... Â Talking about "Bokeh" here .... :-) Â Â Just kidding, I love the X1....
fotografr Posted September 13, 2010 Share #31  Posted September 13, 2010 I shot just a few frames yesterday at our Wisconsin Ironman competition. Runners were coming directly toward me at close range and every frame was acceptably sharp. Like Bill said, if you learn to work with the camera you can avoid missing shots due to slow AF. In this case, I just pre-focused on a point on the street, then held the shutter half way down until the runners were at the right spot. Welcome, dear visitor! anupmc Posted September 17, 2010 Share #37 Â Posted September 17, 2010 When standing close to a running horse they are really fast! Â No disrespect to you personally, but IMHO, those are pretty awful images (certainly not worthy compared to pictures you have in your gallery). For what seems like perfect day conditions, the X1 should have absolutely no problems taking brilliant action shots. And the terrible banding of the sky? Some bad compression software? hg2303 Posted September 17, 2010 Share #38 Â Posted September 17, 2010 You are absolutly right! I see the pics on the forum are really bad. On my computer they look good as on my website.
