Whatever happened to keeping threads relevant to their forum section?

As for discussing lenses and other stuff (including where is Jono?) those might belong in the M9 forum, since owners of M9s (and to a lesser extent) M8s might actually be discussing performance on the M9...

Personally I've never understood why there's no Lens Discussion section - a great number of threads would be better there instead of in the nondescript 'Customer Forum' - but I agree that lens discussions regarding performance on a particular camera should absolutely be kept in their appropriate sub-section.

However, even ignoring the people who sneak around the rules by titling their thread something like: 'Why is the 50 'lux SILVER heavier than the BLACK when I put it on my M9 , just take a look at my list above:

Why is the 50 'lux SILVER heavier than the BLACK?

Lens Hood on 35mm Summarit - HELP PLEASE!

Zeiss Lens Caps

What Lens Hood for 50mm Summilux?

I personally don't see that any of those topics (which at the time were among the latest ten or so threads on the M9 forum), really belonged there.

Hey Mani--you're totally right about the lens section IMO... and on all the other questions (why there's even a post on Zeiss lens caps--on the face of it.. is a bit weird.

I think that the idea of a lens forum section is an excellent idea. It transcends all Leica body types and is relevant to both film and digital shooters, particularly with the M9 now being FF. I know a lot of the checking I do here is oriented about lenses etc and less about cameras. It would be a good place where experienced shooters could contribute outside of the restrictions of a particular camera body forum.

Also, maybe it's time to think about re-merging the M8/M9 sections soon too. I notice a lot of common questions posted to both sections independently.

I quite agree, Graham, it would be better that way.

Uh-oh, now the thread has to be moved to the "about the Leica forum"section again, after being banned to the Bar .:D

100% agreed : lenses are LENSES and deserve a section for them own, and a chance for film people to surf somewhere else than their niche :). And the merging of M8 with M9 ("Digital M") is quite logical, also to keep the total number of sections costant.
