I just found a source for LTM to M mount adaptor rings with 6 bit coding:

6 Bit M39 LTM LSM Lens to LEICA M 50-75 Adapter M8 M9 - eBay (item 220535189463 end time May-03-10 13:25:28 PDT)

Does anyone have experience with these 'Kipon' branded rings?

are there any alternative pre-coded rings that anyone knows of?

I purchased a no-name ring from China a few years ago and found it was quite stiff- it was machined steel- not chromed brass and I was not happy with it. I have used Voightlander rings and they seem perfect.

However if these rings are of a good quality they seems like an excellent way to get my LTM lenses coded.

Avoid this VERY BAD product. I have bought two of them and none of them works.

It is n possible to get précise pictures with them

I have one from the same supplier that I use on a 21mm CV Skopar and it seems to work OK Jacques. Of course a 21mm lens is more tolerant of any registration problems but I can't fault the fit or finish, it isn't stiff to mount on the camera for instance. They are brass under a dull silver plating.

Perhaps it is the good place to recall the magnificient work done by John Millich for us: he makes splendid adaptors type LTM with the 6 recesses ready to be coded according your way. Certainly more expensive than other trades but well in line with the Leica quality.

You can have details, prices, etc... by e-mailing him at jm@milich.com

Sometime he is rather busy, taking time to reply, but essentialy honest and efficient.

Rmq: I haven't any personnal link to him, just a satisfied customer...;)

Jacques, the last Voigtlander LTM to M adapters have a groove on the mount that allow you to permanently code the lens. Because of this groove, the paint or marker doesn't get erased while mounting and dismounting. You just need an M-Coder device et voilà.
