stumac Posted December 20, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted December 20, 2006 Ian, Pete, Flinders Victoria, when collecting mail this pm, only had a brief word with the owner, did the restoration himself, about 5000 hrs over 4 years. Local resident, will make further aquaintance and get more info. Will post more. Regards, Stuart

farnz Posted December 20, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 20, 2006 Gorgeous images, Stuart! I'm embarrassed to say that an (eccentric) aunt of mine used to own a '34 Bentley that looked much like this and ... she used to drive it round her farm filled with hay bales in the winter so she could feed the sheep. Said it was ideal because the large wheelbase stopped it from getting stuck in the mud and the low gearing meant that she could set the Bentley to idle on cruise control(?) while she walked beside it distributing hay to grateful sheep. In a way it's nice that she put the car to good use - sort of like actually using a Leica for what it was designed.
stumac Posted December 20, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted December 20, 2006 Thanks all for your encouraging comments, my D2 does not like the mid afternoon sun here in aust. I havent spent enough time with it to really get to know its quirks, perhaps next year! Regards, Stuart
elansprint72 Posted December 20, 2006 Share #10 Posted December 20, 2006 Stuart, If the bright sunlight is a problem, The Classic Camera (main London Leica dealer) has some left-over neutral density filters at a fraction of their original price in a clearance sale; I'm tempted to get one myself but that would be the end of any sunny weather in the UK! Unfortunately they don't have any Elpro D's at similar prices. Cheers, Pete.
